AEM Cam gear dyno results!!!

Alright, I just got back from Atlanta with my results. I got the AEM cam gears installed and tuned. I gained 9.6 whp and 5.2 ft/lbs of torque. Take a look for yourselves.

Good results. Were the gears done before or after the MSD install, and fuel pressure tuning, etc?

I never got the BTM installed cause I didn't have the right one. They never messed with the fuel pressure because I had 2 fuel pressure gauges sitting in my apartment and I picked up the wrong one. They charged about $200 to install and tune the gears.

And please tell us, what were the final settings! Also did they re-set the timing back to it's baseline after changing the intake cam! Please let us know.

It looks from the graph, that they simply advanced the timing 3 - 4 degrees, but I might be wrong.

Might as well ask this here but,

I have some JG cam gears, but unfortunately, I didn't get to see what difference they might make with my SC as one of them was wrenched up too tight (from it's last adjustment -- by someone else, not me)

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions how to get these things loose? Like for instance what kind of lubricant/solvent I could use safely -- let it set on there for a day and then hopefully get it loose. (or any other tips) thanks

Lungren: Sorry it took so long, I've been so busy. As far as I know, the timing right now is set at 13 degrees. You were right about the cam gear settings. They were basically just advanced, it looks like 4 degrees.

I just wanted to float an idea I read about this weekend and see if it had any merit. Basically the person suggested that if you want to tune your cam gears you can just hook up a compression tester and adjust the gears until you had the highest compression and that would result in the greatest hp gains. I figure if this works it could save some serious money in dyno time. What do you folks think?

228GSR: So they just advanced the intake 4 degrees, and the exhaust they also advanced 4 degrees, but they didn't change the timing.

If that's the case, I'd take the car back to those idiots, and tell them to do it right. You MUST, change the timing every time you move the intake cam. +1 on the intake cam = +2 at the crank on the ignition timing. So of course +intake yields power, but the power doesn't come from the cam settings, it's coming from the advanced timing, which also means detionation.
